Suppression systems
Inspection, testing and recharge of your special-hazard suppression systems, including commercial kitchen hood systems, in Quebec City and Levis.
What it covers
A suppression system protects one specific hazard: the hood and cooking appliances of a commercial kitchen, or another special hazard. Our technicians inspect, test and service these pre-engineered wet chemical systems. The service is built for restaurants, hotels, seniors residences, schools and any business running a commercial kitchen or equipment protected by a fixed system. If your system activates or shows a fault, we respond quickly to get it back in service and keep your kitchen open.
Why it is required
A kitchen suppression system is the last protection against a grease fire. Left unchecked, a clogged nozzle, an aged fusible link or an undercharged cylinder can leave it useless at the worst moment. Inspection and maintenance are required under ULC-S1254 and the applicable regulation (NFPA-96, NFPA-17A). They are also often a condition of insurance.

Frequently asked questions
How often does a kitchen hood system need inspection?
Commercial kitchen suppression systems are typically inspected every 6 months, as required by the applicable standard and regulation. A recharge is required after any discharge.
My system discharged. What do you do?
We recharge the cylinder, replace the fusible links, check the nozzles and piping, then return the system to service. The work is documented in Canuck360.
Can you also handle the extinguisher and the hood?
Yes. We coordinate the Class K extinguisher inspection with the suppression system. Hood cleaning is a related service we can schedule at the same time.
Which standard applies to these systems?
The main standard is ULC-S1254 for inspection and maintenance. Kitchen systems also fall under NFPA-96 and NFPA-17A, along with the applicable local regulation.
