Emergency lighting
Inspection, testing and service for your emergency and exit lighting, in Quebec City, Levis and the surrounding region. Your battery units and exit signs stay ready when the power goes out.
What it covers
Emergency lighting keeps corridors, stairwells and exits lit when the power fails. This covers battery-backed unit equipment (emergency or backup lighting) and illuminated exit signs. The service is for owners and managers of commercial, institutional and multi-unit residential buildings that need this equipment working at all times. Since the units need a monthly check, we often group these visits with your extinguisher and first aid inspections, so you avoid double trips.
Why it is required
When the power drops during an evacuation, emergency lighting takes over. A dead battery or a failed head leaves occupants in the dark at the worst possible moment. These systems are installed to CAN/ULC-S524, and their life-safety role falls under NFPA-101. Testing and service must be carried out as required by the applicable standard and regulation.

Frequently asked questions
How often does emergency lighting need to be tested?
As a rule, a short function test every month and a duration test once a year. The exact intervals apply as required by the standard and regulation for your building.
What is a duration test?
The unit runs on its battery for its full rated time, often 30 or 90 minutes, to confirm it will hold up during a real outage. A unit that shuts off early needs to be corrected.
Do you replace batteries and heads on site?
Yes. When possible, we replace failed batteries and heads during the visit. For larger issues, we give you a clear correction plan.
How do I get my reports?
Your reports, certificates and deficiency list are kept in the Canuck360 portal. You can see the status of your units and upcoming deadlines at any time.
